Cascade Speed Meet Recap
Dinos were ready to rock at Cascade Speed Meet!
A quick two days of racing to get moving into November, it was the first meet of the year with both heats and finals for many.
It was so great to see athletes taking on challenges - a wide spread of events over the two days, sometimes an event that brought some nerves, maybe the first time swimming a certain race, and finally getting back to one of your favourite events!
Some athletes found themselves with not one, but two challenging races with very tight turnarounds. The 200 fly to 100 Back had athletes demonstrating grit and determination while leaning on all the work they'd put in so far this season.
Sunday was a big day for the Kinawi family when both Ahmad and Aiya found themselves in swim-offs! And who doesn't love a swim off?!
This weekend was a great reminder that anything can happen! Fumbles with technology and swimmers having to refocus in a matter of seconds/minutes, with a heat of 200 IM getting a re-swim Sunday night, and issues with lane ropes found 400 Fr heats pausing and later heats rushing to get ready earlier than anticipated. No matter the circumstances, our swimmers made the most of each opportunity.
Focus and goals can be easier to find around this time with meets stacking up closer together - another racing opportunity in a few weeks and then one more for 2024 shortly after that. The perfect runway to make changes while the experiences of this meet are still fresh!
